Fever can be a sign of either infection or inflammation in our body. And this is also a part of our body defence mechanism.

Monitoring body temperature especially in children can be crucial as they can get very sick with simple illnesses like cold and flu. A very high fever may cause brain damage to children more easily compared to adults.
What should you do to lower your body temperature if you are having a fever?
Besides taking over-the-counter medicationlike ibuprofen or paracetamol, here are few things you can do to lower your fever.
- Keep yourself hydrated. Drink plenty of plain water.
- Do not cover too much.Let your body cool and remove extra layers of blankets and covers
- Do tepid sponging or apply cold compresses
