Introduction of Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip)

Zyloric  Tablet should be taken after the meal. You can continue to take it as prescribed by your doctor even though you are not having a gout. If you stop, your symptoms can get worse as more crystals develop in your joints and kidneys. You can help yourself by changing your diet and drinking plenty of fluids.

To make sure you are healthy, notify your doctor if you have or have had issues with heart , kidney, liver or thyroid  before taking this medication. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, do not use this medicine. Check it out with your doctor. You will be asked to take regular blood tests to ensure if your liver is functioning properly.

This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.

Side Effects

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

  9. Change in bowel habits

  13. Acute gout attack 

While some these symptoms are more common, there are a few rare symptoms that could also occur. Precautionary Steps of Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip)

Please consult a doctor especially before taking Zyloric. If you have any of the following conditions & contraindications:-

  • Heart disease 
  • Liver disease 
  • Allergy to Zyloric or any of its components
  • Hypersensitivity 
  • Lactation 

Please stop using this medication if you are experiencing these symptoms and conditions.

 
Zyloric Drug Interactions

Drug to drug interaction reaction of Zyloric varies from a person to another person. It is advisable to check with your doctor about all the possible drug interactions before starting the medication.
  • Alcohol
  • Azathioprine
  • Adenine arabinoside
  • Cyclosporine

Keep the following precautions in mind as well:-
  • Avoid excess exposure to sunlight
  • Avoid this medicine for a longer use
  • Alcohol might affect your liver if it is taken with this medication
  • Tell your doctor if you have any other diseases or if you are taking any other medication
  • Do not discontinue the prescribed course

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)

It is not advisable to take alcohol with Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip) as it would worsen any dizziness, blurred vision, and drowsiness.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)

Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip) may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)

Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip) is excreted in the breast milk, along with its active metabolite oxipurinol. However, no data shows any effect of Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip) and oxipurinol in the breast milk on the baby. Ultimately, it is not recommended as of now.

Driving Warning (Not Advisable)

Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip) may cause side effects such as sleepiness, vertigo or loss of balance, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)

Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip) should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease, especially if used with diuretics. Dose adjustment of Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip) may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning (Use With Care)

Patients with liver disease should use Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip) with caution. Dose adjustment of Zyloric 100mg Tablet 10s (strip) may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Quick Tips

  • Take Zyloric 100mg Tablet with food to avoid stomach discomfort.
  • Stay hydrated (2-3 litres) while on Zyloric 100mg Tablet .
  • Stop taking Zyloric 100mg Tablet and notify your doctor immediately if you get a skin rash, neck swelling, or trouble breathing while on it.
  • You may experience some unwanted reactions when you start taking Zyloric 100mg Tablet the first time.
  • Regular liver function tests will be done before and while on treatment with Zyloric 100mg Tablet.
  • Notify your doctor if you experience yellowing of the eyes or skin, black urine, or stomach discomfort,
  • Do not drink alcohol while on Zyloric 100mg Tablet as it may affect your condition.

What If You Forget To Take

If you miss a dose of Zyloric Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
