How Alexitol Sodium Works

Alexitol sodium acts as an antacid which buffers and neutralizes the hyperacidity of the stomach. This is achieved by the interaction of the excess proton (hydrogen ion) with the Alexitol sodium compound that reduced the excess of hydrogen ions in the stomach.

Constipation, Intestinal obstruction (when overdosage), Dizzy, Headache, Stomach discomfort, Tiredness

Alcohol Safe

It is not known whether Alexitol sodium interacts with alcohol or not. It is therefore safe to consume together with alcohol or before/after taking alcohol.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Safety from animal nor human study has not been established. It is therefore not known whether Alexitol sodium is safe during pregnancy or not although data of other types of antacids suggest other form of antacids with similar actions are safe during pregnancy. Doctor's advice and precaution should be taken if Alexitol sodium is to be prescribed.

Lactation Limited Data

Alexitol sodium is not known to be excreted into human breastmilk or not. It is therefore best to change to other form of antacids or hyperacidity reliever with known safety profile during breastfeeding.

Driving Not advisable

It is not advisable to consume Alexitol sodium before driving if side effects such as dizziness or headache developed.

Kidney Use With Care

Alexitol sodium may be used in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. Dosage adjustment may be needed if concentration of aluminium in the blood started to rise. For severe renal impairment, dose adjustment may be needed.

Liver Safe If Prescribed

Alexitol sodium is not metabolised by the liver hence is safe to be used even in liver impairment.
