Bacampicillin is commonly used to treat severe bacterial infections
Bacampicillin will be converted into ampicillin once taken into the body. The latter works by inhibiting the final transpeptidation of the synthesis of peptidoglycan which forms the bacterial wall. This will cause bacterial cell death due to cell wall breakdown.

It is safe to consume Bacampicillin with alcohol as no data suggest or warn of any adverse reaction between these two substances.
Animal studies have failed to show any adverse effects on the fetal development while human pregnancy data is inadequate to conclude the safety profile of Bacampicillin.
Bacampicillin is found in breastmilk and although it is not known whether it affects the infant, it is recommended that the patient uses other antibiotic alternatives that has proven safety profile.
Bacampicillin can be used before driving as no reported adverse effects mentioned to affect the ability to drive or concentrate.
Since most beta-lactams antibiotics are excreted by the kidney, it is advisable to use Bacampicillin with caution in people with renal impairment. Dose adjustment is also advisable according to the severity of the renal impairment.
Bacampicillin is not known to affect patient with hepatic impairment. It is therefore safe to use without any dosage adjustment.
