How Fusidic Acid Works

Fusidic Acid is an antibiotic. Fusidic Acid works by affecting the arrangement of peptide subunits leading to lengthening of the peptide chain of the susceptible organism which ultimately causes suppression of protein synthesis.

Jaundice, GI disturbance, Thrombophlebitis, Hypocalcemia, Rashes

Fusidic Acid Related Warnings

Alcohol Safe

There is no known interaction between alcohol and Fusidic Acid. However, it is advisable to drink in moderation.

Pregnancy Not Safe

There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Use only when potential benefit exceeds possible risk to the fetus.

Lactation Limited Data

Fusidic Acid must be used with caution during lactation. Limited human data suggests that Fusidic Acid enters the breast milk. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Generally Safe

Fusidic acid usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Fusidic Acid need to be used with caution in patients with kidney disease and dose adjustment may be required. However, please consult your doctor.

Liver Limited Data

Fusidic Acid should be used with care in patients with liver disease as the metabolism involves the liver. Dose adjustment of Fusidic Acid may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
