Lidocaine/lignocaine is commonly used in the treatment of anal fissure, arrhythmias, mouth ulcers and piles. it is also used as a local anesthesia to numb tissues in a specific area.
Lidocaine/Lignocaine is an anaesthetic drug where it works by stabilizing neural membrane and inhibiting sodium ion movements thus the conduction of impulses is blocked. Lidocaine/Lignocaine also reduces depolarization of the ventricles.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Lidocaine/Lignocaine. Taking Lidocaine/Lignocaine with alcohol may interfere with the efficacy of Lignocaine and may potentiate the side effects.
Lidocaine/Lignocaine may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown no risk to the fetus. However, there are limited well-controlled human studies. The benefits from the use of Lidocaine/Lignocaine in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lidocaine/Lignocaine is not recommended to use during lactation as some amount of Lidocaine/Lignocaine is excreted in breast milk. Please consult your doctor.
