Uses of Melphalan

Melphalan is commonly used to treat multiple myeloma, breast cancer, ovarian carcinoma, polycythaemia vera, ovarian adenocarcinoma, neuroblastoma, melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma.

How Melphalan Works

Melphalan is an alkylating agent. Forming the metabolite carbonium ions, it cross-links DNA strands and acts on both resting and rapidly dividing tumour cells, thereby inhibiting DNA and RNA synthesis.

Bone marrow suppression, Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Stomatitis, Alopecia
