Progesterone is commonly used to treat abnormal uterine bleeding, female infertility, premenstural syndrome (pms) and also is used in hormone replacement therapy.

How Progesterone Works

Progesterone is the main hormone which induces secretory changes in the endometrium, promotes mammary gland development, relaxes uterus, blocks follicular maturation and ovulation

Side Effects of Progesterone

Appetite change, Fluid retention, Skin rash, Acne, Somnolence, Breast tenderness, Abdominal pain, Abdominal discomfort, Nausea and vomiting, Headache, Rash, Fatigue, Changes in libido

Progesterone Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Progesterone because it may worsen the side effects such as headache, dizziness, and nausea.

Pregnancy Maybe Safe

Progesterone may be safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have not shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor for more details.

Lactation Not Advisable

Progesterone is unsafe to use during lactation as it is excreted in human milk.

Driving Generally Safe

Progesterone usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Progesterone should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Progesterone may cause some degree of fluid retention. Careful observation on patients with renal dysfunction. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Use With Care

Progesterone should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. It is contraindicated for patients with severe hepatic impairment. Please consult your doctor.
