Sodium citrate works by neutralizing the gastric acid with the production of carbon dioxide as the Sodium Citrate metabolized into bicarbonate. Besides that, Sodium Citrate also aid in chelating free Ca which are in the blood and inhibiting clotting to occur by acting as an extracorporeal anticoagulant
