Vaccinations
Influenza Vaccination (Sanofi Quadri Variant)
The flu is not just a cold, it’s a contagious illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. Those within a certain age group (adults over 65 years old for example) or living with certain health conditions are at a higher risk of severe flu complications that may be fatal.
Vaccination may keep you from getting sick with flu or reduce the severity of symptoms if you still get sick after vaccination. It provides active immunisation against four influenza virus strains (two A subtypes and two B types) contained in the vaccine
Potential side effects include soreness, redness and/or swelling at the injection site, headache, fever, nausea and muscle aches.
Pneumococcal Vaccination (PNEUMOVAX 23)
The pneumococcal vaccine can help protect against diseases caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, such as pneumonia, meningitis, as well as infection of the blood, ear and sinus. Children, adults over 65 years old and those living with certain health conditions are a higher risk of severe illness.
Potential side effects include soreness, redness and/or swelling at the injection site and fever.
HPV Vaccination (GARDASIL 9)
Vaccination may help protect against cancer or genital warts cause by some types of human papillomavirus (HPV). While it’s recommended to get the vaccine before having sexual contact with others, do speak to your healthcare provider about getting the HPV vaccine if you’ve already had sex or HPV as vaccination may still protect against other HPV strains.
The HPV vaccine offered consists of 3 doses. Potential side effects include soreness, redness and/or swelling at the injection site, headache, fatigue, nausea and muscle aches.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the flu shot important? Why do I need a new flu shot every year?
The flu vaccine helps prevent illnesses, medical visits, hospitalisations and deaths. It also helps reduce the severity of symptoms in people who are vaccinated but still get sick.
Antibody levels from vaccination will deplete over time and flu virus strains can adapt, so it’s important to get the latest flu vaccine every year.
Why should I get the pneumococcal vaccine?
The pneumococcal vaccine helps protect against severe and potentially fatal infections caused by the bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae. These infections can cause illnesses such as pneumonia, meningitis and more.
Pneumococcal infections commonly occur among children, the elderly (65 years old and above), as well as those with chronic medical conditions. In Malaysia, pneumococcal disease is one of the most widespread vaccine-preventable diseases.
Can the influenza and pneumococcal vaccines be taken at the same time?
Yes the influenza and pneumococcal vaccines can be administered at the same time for adults and children, but in different injection sites.
How many doses are required for the HPV vaccine?
The HPV vaccine consists of 3 doses for people over the age of 15, and 2 doses for people between the ages of 9 and 14 years.
Who should take the HPV vaccine?
Men and women from 9 to 45 years of age can get the HPV vaccine. While it’s more effective for those who have not had sexual contact with another person, HPV vaccination may still protect against several strains that can cause cancer and genital warts even if you’ve already had sex or HPV.
The HPV vaccine offered protects against HPV virus types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52 and 58. Types 16 and 18 account for 70% of cervical cancers and 90% of anal cancers, while types 6 and 11 cause more than 90% of genital warts.
How do I get my 2nd and 3rd dose of HPV vaccine?
You may arrange for your 2nd and 3rd doses during your appointment on-site at the Takeda office or you may visit the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) on your own time for your subsequent doses.
Why should I undergo health screenings?
Health screenings can help with early detection of diseases and conditions before symptoms or signs may manifest. The earlier the diagnosis and treatment, the higher the chances for improving quality of life and preventing premature death.
The importance of health screening is greater when you have a family history of specific medical conditions, as well as your age and lifestyle.
How long will it take to get my health screening results?
