Reapply as needed
Using a lip balm or an ointment can keep your lips nourished and help them heal better. Cold and dry climate or sitting too long in air conditioned room can easily cause dry and chapped lips. With a touch of lip balm, thin and dry lips can become plump and hydrated, giving a healthy and radiating appearance.
When a person sleeps, the temperature of the lips increase, clearing out toxins and generating new skin cells. This increase in heat causes the lips to lose moisture overnight. Thi sis why it should be routine to apply lip balm or ointment at night before bed. An interesting fact is that athletes apply lip balm to their noses in chilly weather to keep them from becoming dry or chapped.
If you have the tendency to lick your lips, it is not recommended to use flavoured lip balms or ointments as it will cause you to habitually lick your lips even more, which will in turn exacerbate the dryness.
