Introduction of Smith & Nephew Bactigras (5cm x 5cm) 5s
Bactigras 5cm x 5cm by Smith & Nephew are soft paraffin dressings that provide a soothing, non-stick coating that enables the wound to drain. Additionally, Bactigras include an antiseptic (0.5 % chlorhexidine) to help with infection prevention, especially in burns.

How To Use Smith & Nephew Bactigras (5cm x 5cm) 5s
Step 1: Wash hands before and after treating the wound. Gently clean the wound and the surrounding skin. Step 2: Open foil sachet. Peel off the protective backing paper to reveal Bactigras™. Step 3: Place Bactigras onto the wound, cover with Melolin pad and hold in place with a tape or bandage.
How To Store Smith & Nephew Bactigras (5cm x 5cm) 5s
Store below 25 ºC in a dry place.
Warning Precautions
- Keep it out of reach of children. - Not suitable for children below 7 years old. - Should not be applied on more than 10% of the body's surface area. - Dermatitis, contact dermatitis, or photosensitivity may occasionally occur. - Although anaphylactic reactions to chlorhexidine have been described, they are relatively rare. - Should not be used in known situations of chlorhexidine sensitivity or allergy. - Keep away from the eyes, middle ear, meninges, and brain. - Use cautiously when washing wounds with oxidizing chemicals, soap, other anionic compounds, or potassium iodide. - Seek medical attention promptly for any major cuts or burns, as well as any redness or pain.

A wound forms when the protective barrier of the skin breaks. Some medical conditions such as diabetes or blood vessel diseases may cause these wounds or worsen it.
Here are some tips on how you can look after a wound and promote healing:
Cover your wound and make sure not to get them wet. Use waterproof dressing or plasters to cover your wound when taking shower. Getting your wound wet can put it at risk of infection.
Avoid chemicals like alcohol or plain soap on the wound as it may irritate the wound and slow the healing process.
Avoid frequently touching or putting pressure on the wound.
Stop smoking
Eat balance diet especially protein to promote healing
Dress your wound correctly using proper dressing product such as Smith & Nephew Bactigras 5cm x 5cm.
Below are the steps you can follow:
Wash your hands and put on disposable gloves before changing your wound dressing
Remove the old dressing and dispose it properly
Use a new disposable glove to clean the wound
Wet cotton or gauze with saline water to clean the surrounding skin
Examine the wound condition and seek medical advice if you notice it worsening such as presence of pus or bas smell
Change to a new disposable glove and put on the new dressing
