Omacor may also be used in conjunction with a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet to help lower extremely high levels of triglycerides (fats) in the blood. Triglyceride levels that are too high may put you at risk of developing coronary heart disease. In the majority of people, elevated triglycerides cause no symptoms. A simple blood test can be used to determine your triglyceride levels.
Omacor is a concentrated source of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. These fatty acids are naturally occurring substances that your body requires in sufficient quantities to function properly. However, because the body cannot produce enough on its own, a balance must be achieved through diet. Omega-3 fatty acids are naturally occurring in certain oily marine fish.
Each capsule contains 1000mg Omega-3-acid ethyl esters 90, which contains eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) ethyl ester (460mg) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) ethyl ester (380 mg).
