How To Use Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g

This medicine is for external use only. Always wash your hands before and after applying the eye ointment. Hold the tube close to the eye without touching the surface to avoid contamination. Pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch. Gently squeeze the tube to dispense the desired amount of ointment onto a clean finger and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Slowly release the lower eyelid and blink a few times to spread the ointment. Wipe off any extra liquid. Ensure to replace and tighten the cap straight after use.

Side Effects

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

This medication is only for external use. Take it at the dosage and frequency prescribed by your doctor. Before usage, check the label for instructions. Hold the tube near to the eye without touching it. Squeeze the tube gently and put the medicine inside the lower eyelid.

Commonly seen side effects of this medicine include temporary eye irritation and burning sensation after application. Consult the doctor if these side effects persist or if the condition is getting worse. 

Pregnant and breast-feeding mothers should consult their doctor before using it. Contact lenses should not be used while you are taking this drug or while you are getting bacterial eye infection.

Warning Precautions

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)

Consuming alcohol in moderation with Osimertinib does not seem to affect the pharmacodynamics of Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g. However, please consult your doctor before using it. It is not advisable to take alcohol with Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g as it may have effects in increasing flushing and dizziness in patients.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)

Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g can cross the placenta and can cause adverse effects on the fetus. However, the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor before using it. Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g may not be safe to be used in pregnancy as animal studies have shown adverse effects on the animal fetus. However, controlled studies on both animal and human are not yet available.

Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)

Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g excretion into breast milk and its potential adverse effect on the feeding baby is largely unknown. Please consult your doctor before using it.Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g is considered safe to use during lactation. There is no data available in the matter, therefore, medication can be given but with precaution.

Driving Warning (Not Advisable)

Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g cause minimal to no side effects which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g may cause temporary unclear eyesight. During this time, it is advised that a patient does not drive.

Kidney Warning (High Risk)

Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g should be not be used in patients with kidney disease unless it is absolutely necessary and only upon consulting your doctor.Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Also, dose adjustment of Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning (Limited Data)

Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it. Although Terramycin Eye Ointment 3.5g can be used in patients, it is best that caution is practiced.

Quick Tips

  • Do not miss any doses or complete the full course of medication, even though you feel better. 
  • Apply the pressure to the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for around 1 minute, immediately after the drug has been instilled. 
  • To prevent contamination, do not apply the tip to any surface or to your eye. 
  • Wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next drug in the same eye to prevent dilution. 
  • It can cause short-term blurring of vision when first used. 
  • Be cautious while driving or using machines. 
  • Do not wear contact lenses until the infection is cleared. 
  • Make sure you use it within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
