Worm infections occur when there are infestations of worms in the bowel which feeds off the human body. These worms are parasitic worms commonly known as intestinal worms. There are a few types of intestinal worms such as flatworms and roundworms. Flatworms include tapeworms and flukes, on the other hand, roundworms include ascariasis, pinworm, and hookworm. The signs and symptoms caused by each type of intestinal worms may vary from one another. Moreover, contact with contaminated soil and feces as well as poor hygiene are also predisposing factors of worm infection. Hence, good hygiene and consumption of well-cooked and clean meals are important for prevention. The treatment of worm infection usually involve anti-parasitic medication such as Albendazole or Mebendazole.
