How To Use Kalimate Powder 1s (sachet)
Dissolve the powder in a glass of water. Mix well and drink it immediately. Do not mix it with any liquid other than water.
As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.
Besides these functions and uses of Kalimate, there are certain side effects that are related to this medication. Please refer to the list below:
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Bloated abdomen
Rashes
Itchiness
Allergy
Vomit blood
Fever
Dry lips or mouth
Although some of these symptoms usually happen, there are a few symptoms that rarely happen. If you experience any of these symptoms (either mentioned or not), please talk a doctor immediately. You also have to refer to a doctor if you experience blurring of vision or skin rashes. The above list may be incomplete and please also mention if you experience other symptoms than mentioned above. These symptoms might be revealed when one uses the medication for a long period of time.
Precautionary Steps of Kalimate Powder 1s (sachet)
Before taking Kalimate, please get a doctor’s advice especially if you have any of the following disease. Contraindications:
Potassium in blood <5 mmol/L
Allergic to Kalimate or its ingredients
Hyperparathyroidism
Intestinal blockage
Hypersensitivity
Breastfeeding mothers
Keep away from children as children and babies are not recommended to use it.
Please stop taking the Kalimate if you experience any symptom.
Reaction towards Kalimate:
Alcohol
Digoxin
Ascorbic acid
Caffeine
Sorbitol
Lithium
Reaction differs according to an individual. You are advised to ask a doctor regarding any reactions that may occur with other medications or substances before taking Kalimate.
These are a few reactions between medication and diseases that is incomplete that might cause disturbance to Kalimate.
Before consuming the medication, please inform your doctor regarding other medicines that you are taking. Please also remember the following precautions:
Avoid exposure to excess sunlight
Avoid using this medication continuously
Alcohol might affect the liver if taken along with this medication
Inform your doctor regarding other diseases that you might experience or regarding other medications that you are consuming. Do not stop taking the medication that the doctor prescribes.
Alcohol Warning (Safe)
There is no known interaction between alcohol and Kalimate Powder 1s (sachet) that may harm the user. It is therefore safe to be used together.
Pregnancy Warning (Limited Data)
There are no animal or human data of the use of Kalimate Powder 1s (sachet) during pregnancy. Therefore, it should only be used if the benefit outweighs the risk.
Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)
It is not known whether Kalimate Powder 1s (sachet) is found in the human breastmilk or not. It is not absorbed into the gastrointestinal system and the use of Kalimate Powder 1s (sachet) should be under the recommendation of an experienced physician
Driving Warning (Generally Safe)
There is no contraindication for the use of Kalimate Powder 1s (sachet) before driving. The side effects profile also suggest no contraindication for driving.
Kidney Warning (Use With Care)
Use of this medication should be with caution as calcium level can increase in people with renal impairment. Dosage adjustment may be needed in this group of people.
Liver Warning (Limited Data)
This medication is not metabolised by the liver and hence it is safe to be used even in hepatic impaired patients.
Quick Tips
Kalimate Powder 5g should be taken according to the recommended dosage and duration.
Dissolve or mix Kalimate Powder 5g in water before taking.
If you get constipated after taking Kalimate Powder 5g, stop using and inform your doctor.
While on Kalimate Powder 5g, avoid eating or drinking anything that contains sorbitol.
Regular blood tests will be conducted to monitor potassium levels and other electrolytes in your blood.
Notify your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
