How To Use Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip)
This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.
As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.
Besides the uses, people who are taking Exforge may also develop certain side effects, such as:
1. Fatigue
2. Influenza
3. Asthenia
4. Headache
5. Angioedema
6. Nasopharyngitis
7. Flushing
Some of these symptoms are more common than others. If you are developing any of the stated side effects (whether listed or not), please talk to a doctor as soon as possible. You also need to refer to a doctor if some symptoms such as skin rash or blurred vision occur. This list may not be complete, therefore do inform if you are experiencing other symptoms. These symptoms become more visible with longer duration of intake.
Precautionary Steps of Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip)
Before starting Exforge, please consult a doctor especially if you are having any of the listed problems. Contraindications:
· Allergy to Exforge or any of its contents.
· It is not advisable for children and babies. Please keep it away from their reach
· Hypersensitivity
Drug interactions with Exforge:
Interactions may differ individually. You are encouraged to ask your doctor about any possible interactions of this drug.
· Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs)
· Aliskiren
· ACE inhibitors

· Alcohol may affect the effectiveness of this drug

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip). Taking Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) with alcohol may worsen the side effects of Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) such as headache, dizziness and visual disturbance. Furthermore, Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) is metabolised in the liver and alcohol consumption leads to a risk of liver damage.It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) as there is a risk of additive effect such lowering blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rateIt is not advisable to take alcohol with Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) as it would worsen the adverse reactions such as dizziness, headache, and nausea.
Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)
Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits of using Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) among pregnant women outweigh the risks. Please consult your doctor. Both animal studies and human studies are insufficient to show adverse effects on the fetus. Pregnant women may use it if the benefits outweigh the risks. Please consult your doctor. Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) is likely to be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Studies have shown positive evidence of human fetal risk. However, in certain conditions, the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeeding Warning (Not Advisable)
Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) is reported to be excreted into breast milk. However, the effect of the exposure towards the babies remains unknown. There is also stated that no side effects were reported with the exposure. Please consult your doctor for further details. Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) is excreted in human milk. It also reduces milk production due to it diuresis effect.Limited human data suggests that Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) does not represent a significant risk to the baby. It is not recommended during lactation as there are better drugs with established safety efficacy during nursing.
Driving Warning (Not Advisable)
Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) may cause side effects such as dizziness headache, tiredness or nausea, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.The usage of Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) may impair general attention and affect the ability to drive as it can cause side effects such as dizziness, somnolence and palpitations.Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) may cause side effects such as dizziness, headaches, nausea or tiredness, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.
Kidney Warning (Use With Care)
Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) is mostly excreted via urine. Thus, dose adjustment of Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Dose adjustment is required in patients with kidney disease. In patients with severe renal function, use is not recommended. Please consult your doctor.Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) may affect the efficiency of renal function. In particular conditions such as renal artery stenosis, Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) is contraindicated to be used. Thus, the dose adjustment of Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Warning (Use With Care)
The liver disease should use Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) with caution. It is extensively metabolised in the liver. Extensive use of Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) also increases the liver enzyme. Dose adjustment of Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) should be used with caution in patients with liver disease as it may precipitate hepatic coma.Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip) may be needed for mild and moderate hepatic impairment. Severe liver disease is one of the contraindications for prescription of Exforge HCT 10/160/12.5mg Tablet 7s (strip). Please consult your doctor.
