This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.

Warning Precautions

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s as there is a risk of additive effect such lowering blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rateIt is not advisable to drink alcohol with Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s as the alcohol may cause additive effect of lowering the blood pressure resulting in symptoms such as dizziness or lightheadedness.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)

Both animal studies and human studies are insufficient to show adverse effects on the fetus. Pregnant women may use it if the benefits outweigh the risks. Please consult your doctor. There is evidence of risk to fetus in human studies, but the potential benefits of Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s may warrant the usage despite the risks. It is recommended to change to alternative antihypertensives with established safety profile in pregnancy, unless angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) therapy is indicated in women planning for pregnancy. It has been demonstrated that exposure to ARB during the second and third trimesters may induce fetotoxicity and neonatal toxicity.

Breastfeeding Warning (Not Advisable)

Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s is excreted in human milk. It also reduces milk production due to it diuresis effect.This drug is excreted in the milk of lactating rats but it is unknown whether Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s is excreted in human breast milk. Since there is no data on the usage of Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s during breastfeeding, it is recommended to change to alternative antihypertensives with better safety profile.

Driving Warning (Not Advisable)

The usage of Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s may impair general attention and affect the ability to drive as it can cause side effects such as dizziness, somnolence and palpitations.Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s may cause side effects such as dizziness or tiredness, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)

Dose adjustment is required in patients with kidney disease. In patients with severe renal function, use is not recommended. Please consult your doctor.It is important to monitor serum potassium and creatinine levels when Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s is used in patients with renal impairments. The usage of this drug is not recommended for patients with severely impaired renal function.

Liver Warning (Use With Care)

Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s should be used with caution in patients with liver disease as it may precipitate hepatic coma.It is best to avoid using Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s in patients with severe liver impairment as there is no data available. Dose adjustment is only required for patients with moderate liver impairment and close monitoring of blood pressure and renal function is strongly indicated. Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s should not be used in patients with biliary obstruction.

Is it safe to take Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s when I am ill?

If you find yourself to be ill with a fever (a high temperature above 38 degree celcius), with sweats, vomitting or have severe diarrhoea, contact your doctor as you may need to stop taking Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s until you are better. You can resume taking Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s when you are eating and drinking normally. If you take Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s when you are ill, it may cause dehydration and it can worsen your condition.

What should I avoid when taking Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s?

If you are taking Olmetec Plus 20/12.5mg Tablet 30s, it is important not to consume too much salt in your food because this can stop your medication from working as well as it should. It is advised not to consume salt substitutes as they contain a high amount of potassium which can interfere with certain medications and cause side effects. Some medications can cause you to lose potassium. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you should take food or supplements high in potassium unless you are on medication that retain potassium then you would not need extra potassium.
