Lithothamnium calcareum is a aquatic red algae found in the chilly Atlantic waters along Ireland's southwest coast and Iceland's northwest coast. During its lifecycle, minerals in the seawater collect in its fronds. The mineral-rich fronds naturally fall off the living organism onto the floor of the ocean. The calcified fragments would then be gathered, cleaned and processed into products such as Kordel's Sea Mineral Complex Capsule to be used as supplements.
One of the key features of Lithothamnium calcareum is that it is a more organic supply of calcium, which the body can process more easily than calcium citrate manufactured artificially.
