Horsetail is a well-known fern that has been utilised as a herbal fix since the Greek and Roman eras.
The plant includes a variety of useful chemicals that have a variety of health benefits. Silica and antioxidants stand out among these.
Antioxidants are substances that guard your body from free radicals, which can damage your cells. Horsetail's potential advantages for nails, skin, hair and bones are thought to be due to the presence of silica, a silicon-oxygen molecule.
Horsetail is most commonly ingested as a tea, which is created by steeping dried horsetail in hot water. It is also available as a pill or a tincture.
It's thought to have a variety of medical characteristics and has long been used to treat wounds, improve skin, bone and hair health, and treat a variety of other ailments.
However, there is little human evidence supporting many of horsetail's traditional uses.
