A well-designed effervescent tablet or powder like Redoxon Vita Guard Effervescent Orange Tablets can deliver a high amount of chemicals in a single administration. The organic food acid reacts with the carbonate source to generate potassium, sodium, calcium, or magnesium salts of the acid, which buffer the solution to a healthy pH. Clinical trials on a number of effervescent products show that the chemicals can enter the bloodstream in as little as 15 minutes.

Effervescent grains form a pleasant tasting solution in water, soda, and fruit juices. This is because the granules contain organic fruit acids. Compounds in traditional solid tablets breakdown slowly in the stomach, delaying or reducing absorption.
