This medicine is for external use only. It should be applied to clean, dry and intact skin. Massage gently to affected areas to facilitate cream absorption. Always wash your hands before and after using this cream. Replace cap tightly after each use.

Alcohol Warning (Safe)

It is generally safe to consume alcohol with Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube)/Lignocaine Polymyxin B Acetic Acid. Taking Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube)/Lignocaine Polymyxin B Acetic Acid with alcohol has no known interactions. There is no information regarding drug interactions Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube) with Alcohol.

Pregnancy Warning (Limited Data)

There are no or limited amount of data from the use of Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube)/Lignocaine Polymyxin B Acetic Acid during pregnancy. As with all medicines care should be taken when using this product in pregnancy and seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist before starting. Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube) may be unsafe to use in pregnancy. Animal studies do not indicate any reproductive toxicity to the fetus. Nevertheless, due to high concentrations of anesthetic reaching the foetus, adverse effects such as foetal bradycardia, seem to be most apparent in paracervical block anaesthesia.

Breastfeeding Warning (Not Advisable)

There are no or limited amount of data from the use of Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube)/Lignocaine Polymyxin B Acetic Acid during lactation. As with all medicines care should be taken when using this product in pregnancy and seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist before starting. Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube) enters human breast milk. Therefore special precautions must be taken if Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube) must be used during lactation. Please discuss with your doctor.

Driving Warning (Not Advisable)

Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube)/Lignocaine Polymyxin B Acetic Acid should not affect alertness or driving ability. Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube) may cause side effects such as dizziness, labile blood pressure and palpitations, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)

Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube)/Lignocaine Polymyxin B Acetic Acid is generally safe to be used in patients with kidney disease. There's minimal systemic absorption of Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube)/Lignocaine Polymyxin B Acetic Acid. Dose adjustment of Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube) may be needed in patients with kidney disease especially if it is administered intrathecally. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning (Use With Care)

Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube)/Lignocaine Polymyxin B Acetic Acid is safe to be used in patients with liver disease. There's minimal systemic absorption of Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube)/Lignocaine Polymyxin B Acetic Acid. In patients with liver disease, Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube) should be used with caution. Dose titration of Emla 5% Cream 5g (tube) may be necessary if it is administered intrathecally. Please consult your doctor.

Quick Tips

Emla 5% Cream should be administered according to the recommended dosage and duration.
Emla 5% Cream should be applied as a thin layer to the afflicted regions 3 to 4 times a day or as directed by your doctor.
Do not apply Emla 5% Cream more than the recommended by the doctor.
Avoid applying Emla 5% Cream to broken or infected areas of skin, face, eyes or eyelids unless instructed to by your doctor
Wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water before each application with clean fingertips.
Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mouth. If inadvertent exposure occurs, quickly rinse with water.
Unless instructed by a doctor, do not cover the area being treated with airtight coverings such as bandages, as this may increase the risk of adverse effects.
Discontinue Emla 5% Cream and notify your doctor if you notice your condition worsens and does not improve after 2 to 4 weeks.
Discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
