Mometasone is commonly used in the treatment of asthma and skin disorders. it is also used to relieve symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose due to allergies.
Mometasone works by reducing the formation, release, and activity of endogenous inflammatory chemical mediators. It inhibits the migration of cells to the injury site which in turn constricts the blood vessels and decreases membrane permeability.
Nausea, Abdominal pain, Dyspepsia, Headache, Back pain, Musculoskeletal pain, Dysmenorrhea, Psychiatric disturbances, Immunosuppression. Oral Candidiasis
It is safe to consume alcohol while using mometasone.
Animal studies have demonstrated adverse effects on the fetus such as cleft palate and intra-uterine growth retardation, however, there are inadequate human studies. Potential benefits may justify the usage of Mometasone in pregnancy despite the risks. Infants whose mothers received corticosteroids in pregnancy must be monitored carefully for hypoadrenalism.
It is not known whether mometasone or its metabolites are excreted in human breast milk. The decision to discontinue Mometasone or breastfeeding depends on the potential benefit of treatment to the mother over the benefit of breastfeeding to the infant.
Mometasone usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Mometasone should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease, even though there is limited data on the effects.
It is recommended to use mometasone with caution in patients with liver impairment as the concentrations of mometasone increases according to the severity of impairment.
