How To Use Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s
This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.
As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.
Side Effects

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s. Alcohol intoxication can increase the risk of lactic acidosis particularly in case of fasting, malnutrition or hepatic impairment.It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s. Alcohol can affect the blood sugar level therefore either hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia can occur. Furthermore, it can affect the pancreas which is the site of insulin production, which in turn worsen the diabetic control.
Pregnancy Warning (Maybe Safe)
Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s should be safe to use during pregnancy because either animal or human studies have not shown any adverse effects on the fetus, however, uncontrolled hyperglycemia in people with PCOS can increase the risk of congenital abnormalities and intrauterine death. Animal studies have shown the toxic effects at high doses on the foetuses. Due to the lack of human data, it is not recommended to use during pregnancy. Thus, please consult your doctor for more details.
Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)
Limited human studies suggest that Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s does not represent a significant risk to the baby when used during pregnancy. In regards to limited data, please consult your doctor to decide on discontinuation of breastfeeding or Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s.No academic reports explaining the use of Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s during human lactation are available at the moment. Hence it is recommended to not use during breastfeeding.
Driving Warning (Generally Safe)

Kidney Warning (High Risk)
Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease, especially in patients with creatinine clearance less than 60mL/min. Patients with severe kidney disease has high risk to get lactic acidosis. Dose adjustment of Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s and regular check up to monitor renal function may be needed. Please consult your doctor before consumption.No dose adjustment is needed for mild renal impairment patients. However, if the glomerular filtration rate is lower than 60 mL/min, dose adjustment may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Warning (Limited Data)
Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s should be used with caution in patients with liver disease due to increased risk of lactic acidosis. Hence liver function test should be done before initiating Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s. Discontinuation of Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s may be needed if there is deterioration of liver function. Please consult your doctor. No dose adjustments needed in mild to moderate liver impairment whereas there are no studies on Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s use in severe liver impairment. However, Janumet 50/500mg Tablet 56s is primarily eliminated in the kidneys, so it is effects on severe liver impairment are expected to be safe.
