Hello and thank you for contacting us regarding your medical concern. Concerning hereditary, if you have a close relative such as your parents or grand parents and even siblings with high level of cholesterol, then it is likely possible that you may have it too.
This is mainly possible due to the passing of genes that are passed on through parents, increases the level of blood cholesterol and acts as if the particular gene only focuses on the defective receptor. This is commonly known as the familial hyper-cholesterolemia.
At your age it is uncommon to witness the inception of this hereditary disease unless you start showing symptoms. Though, are no apparent symptoms for high blood cholesterol but it does result in a number of chronic diseases. Excess cholesterol in blood level commonly result in heart diseases due to the clogging of arteries with fat deposits.
There are other cholesterol related medical issues such as kidney failure as well as stroke. I would recommend you to get a blood cholesterol test done and consult your doctor with the results. This way you will know for sure and your doubts will be clear. If there are traces of high cholesterol in your blood found, you will start with a proper treatment requiring medication and other prevention of food such as fried items, soft drinks and alcohol.
If the cholesterol level is shown under control then I would suggest you to change your lifestyle and focus more on healthy diet with less calories compared to other regular meals. You should involve yourself in stamina building sports and the sleeping pattern; you should get at least 6 hours of sleep every 24 hours.I hope the answer helped you with your query.
