Chronic Kidney Disease
My mother is 66 years old and recently went for health screening, in which the EGFR result is 59ml/min/1.73m2 and categorised her as Stage 3A CKD. The doctor advice to see a nephrologist for further assessment. However the doctor also said that she could or could not be really have CKD because the health screening is general.
I understand that we need to do further assessment - but just asking should we be really worry? She hasnt really take the results in to decide to see specialist but on the other hand I am worry if we delay seeing one.
Kindly advise.

For your information, chronic kidney disease is defined as eGFR of less than 60ml/min/1.73m2 for 3 months with or without kidney damage. We are unable to give you assurance about your mother’s condition as we need a complete medical history to determine if your mother is a CKD patient. Therefore, we advise you to refer to a nephrologist for further assessment as directed by the doctor. It is best to do it as soon as possible to prevent the worsening of your mother’s kidney function if she has CKD. You can speak to our nephrologist online for further advice regarding this matter.
