Finger joints pain these past 2 weeks
I’m 45 and my fingers on each hand (except the thumb) is feeling numb and pain these past 2 weeks especially in the morning. I also got the trigger finger - only at the middle finger for now and a slight pain at the wrist just below the thumb. I’m not sure whether it is arthritis or gout, since I’m leading a healthy lifestyle, dont smoke and dont drink. I’m also doing weight training with dumbbells and I would like to know whether this is part of the cause of my joint pains. Thanks.

Hi, thank you for your question.
Physical and occupational therapy can also help people with rheumatoid arthritis. The therapists will advice patients on the types of exercise suitable for them. Most people may think that exercise will worsen their joint pain, but actually it is the lack of exercise that makes the pain worse.
Exercises strengthen the muscles to support the joints, maintain bone strength, maintain a healthy weight, build stamina and improve balance. Some exercises suitable for people with arthritis are:
- Range of motion exercise which involves movements that take the joints through their full span and gentle stretching.
- Strengthening exercise such as weight training and using a resistance band.
- Aerobic exercise such as cycling, walking, yoga and using an elliptical machine.
- Water exercise such as water aerobics and swimming. Water can help to support your body weight and thus reduce stress on joints.
It is great that you have given a lengthy explanation. Unfortunately, these informations you gave only answers part of the the history. Furthermore, an proper physical examination has to be done to properly evaluate your condition. I understand you have been to doctors and also physiotherapy.
