Paediatric idiopathic constipation
My twins (3 year old) are both having idiopathic constipation for 2 years now. Having on-going medication (half of forlax 10g 24 hourly) yet still constipated. Giving enema if not pooing for 3-4 days.
Potty training still unsuccessful as they resist to sit on the potty or without diaper on. Diet wise considered quite balance and good with fiber, fluid intake daily.
I’m out of idea what to do to help them. Please help. Thank you in advance.

Hi, thank you for your question.
First and foremost, we truly understand your concern regarding the constipation problem that your children (twins) are having. We will try our best to help you.
Generally, one way is to make sure they consume balanced diet with plenty of fluids. However, children with idiopathic constipation often need to take laxatives (medicine that make the stool move through the intestine faster) everyday no matter how balanced their diet is. This is am to keep the stool from getting impacted and keep your child from soiling. It is best for you to bring your children to consult a doctor before trying any medicine to avoid any complication.
In some serious cases, laxatives are not enough, as they may need a surgery to remove the part of the intestine that is most stretched.
You may also discuss with our doctor online to get to know the right treatment for your children.
We hope this answers your questions. Thank You
