My heart skips a beat

Hi. I am 57 years old having diabetes but under medicine and under control. My problem is, my heart beat keep on skipped. It already the 3rd day. Additional info, my heart beat are constant 80 to 90 bps when rest. Already done ECG and the result is good. Should I worried? Thanks Dr.

Hello and thank you for addressing your concern.

According to your statement, we believe early prevention is better than cure. Hence further (or ongoing) assessment might be the best way to go. In all honesty, there are a number of cardiovascular condition that could be predisposed to an individual with a history of diabetes and old age. But having a good medication control and regular visit to the doctor would be the best countermeasure for any unwanted condition.

Besides that, I humbly think the best way to convey your ‘skipped heartbeat’ experience is through direct communication with a cardiologist. With that being said, for the time being, I urge you to keep it on records for the duration, frequency and the symptoms’ intensity every now and then.

However, the given information has only touched the surface of an underlying problem. I hope you would take the extra initiative to contact our doctor using this link (DoctorOnCall) in order to maximise the help that you can get. Thank you.
