Greetings,
Thank you for choosing us to get an opinion regarding your health issues.
I will do my best to give you information related to your condition.
For your information, you can go and get your depo injection as it is one of the most famous methods these days, regarding the injection and implant, it is best to discuss with a gynecologists’ as further test needed to be done before that can be decided.
Furthermore, there are several other types of contraception namely intrauterine devices, surgical methods, barrier methods and natural family planning.
- Barrier methods include the male condom, the female condom, cervical caps and cervical diaphragms. It prevents sperm from reaching the cervix and some may contain chemicals that kills sperms. It is effective, non-invasive and protects against sexually transmitted diseases (STD). However, it decreases sexual pleasure and requires both partners cooperation.
- Intrauterine device is a copper device shaped like a T and is inserted into the uterus to prevent an embryo to be implanted at the uterine wall. There are 2 types, one without hormones and another with hormones. it is inserted by a doctor and can last up to 3 years. However, it is associated with a lower effectiveness of preventing pregnancy compared to the barrier method and increases the risk for infections.
- Surgical methods are always the last resort, as it is irreversible. For females, there is the option of tubal ligation, where the fallopian tubes are cut and tied, preventing the egg from ever being fertilized. For males, there is the option of vasectomy, where the vas deferens will be cut and tied, allowing you to ejaculate without sperm.
- Natural family planning methods include the calendar or rhythm method, the basal body temperature method (BBT), the cervical mucus method (CMM), lactational amenorrhea and coitus interruptus. These methods are free but unreliable as it takes time to practice and use properly and it also does not prevent STDs.
I hope I was able to answer your questions today.
Thank you
