Hiv test result question
Hello, i would like to ask about the test that i did. The report mention that the HIV Ag/Ab (CMIA) is non-reactive, but there is a value of 0.33. What does the value means?
Thanks

Good evening, thank you for reaching out to us.
We understand your concern regarding the result. Based on your statement, it is a screening tool used to detect HIV antibody and antigen in the body to see whether you are exposed to the virus or not. The value is there to see whether you should be retested or need further investigation to confirm your status. Screening tools can give false-positive result because of the variability in specificity and sensitivity based on the manufacturers.
However again, we are unsure which value are you referring to because there are few parameters tested in the HIV investigations, including HIV Ag/Ab, CD4 count, viral load and few other parameters.
If you are still wondering what does the value mean, you may reach us at (DoctorOnCall) to speak to our doctors directly. We value your privacy, thank you.
