Moving Inner Cornea- Working at Construction Site

I am working in construction industry and I am exposed to sun everyday. At first, my eyes turn red every night. I assumed it was because of dust at construction site. But today in the morning, I realised that my cornea (above the white layer) move/berkedut everytime I look to the side. I hope you can help me. Im planning to go to doctor tomorrow but Im afraid it will affect my sleep tonight.

Good evening. Thank you for your inquiries

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding your eyes that turns red every night and a recent corneal defect each time you look to your side. Somehow, the defect of your cornea might be related with the redness of your eyes during the night.

For your information, there are certain explanation that can be related with your condition, especially sunburn eyes:

  • It may be due to repetitive exposure of allergens (such as dust) towards your eyes
  • Exposure to sun can cause repeating eye redness
  • Eye infections that can cause inflammations such as conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, and uveitis.
  • Inflammation of the white part of the eye called Scleritis
  • Other systemic causes such as bacterial or viral infection (eg measles)

In your situation however, is biased more towards having sunburned eyes due to excessive exposure of UV light during work. Here are the symptoms that your eyes might feel:

  • Gritty feeling in your eyes, like sand
  • Eye pain
  • Headache
  • Twitching sensation in the eyelid
  • Redness
  • Blurring of vision
  • More sensitive towards bright light
  • Seeing halos of light in your field of vision
  • Constricted pupils
  • Swelling and tearing
  • Temporary vision loss or experience colour changes in your vision.

We strongly suggest you to meet your doctor as soon as possible to prevent this condition for affecting your vision. Make sure to perform hazard precautions before meeting your doctor to protect your eyes from this condition.
