Stomach Issues (stomache, indigestion, diarrhea and etc)

Hi DOC,
I have been suffering from a few of the symptoms below and this has gone for about 3 weeks now. I am hoping you could help, I would visit a hospital but with the recent COVID-19 outbreak, I was hoping I could check here first.
Below is a list of symptoms I am facing, and they seem to be worsening.
i) Consistent diarrhea (3-5 times) in the early mornings
ii) Stomachaches, constipation and a bloated stomach in the later parts of the day (evening to midnight)
iii) Loss of appetite
iv) I will need the toilet after almost every meal
v) Occasionally, I will feel a sour/acidic taste in my mouth
I was diagnosed with the H-ployri virus in 2018 and it was dealt with via medication. I am not sure if this could be a recurrence or if it is something else entirely.
Hope you can help.

Thank you for your questions.

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding symptoms you’re facing now.

From your complaints, the symptoms that you had may have multifactorial causes:

  • Viruses. Viruses that can cause diarrhea include Norwalk virus, cytomegalovirus and viral hepatitis…
  • Bacteria and parasites. Contaminated food or water can transmit bacteria and parasites to your body.
  • Medications. Many medications, such as antibiotics, can cause diarrhea. Other drugs that cause diarrhea are cancer drugs and antacids with magnesium.
  • Lactose intolerance. Lactose is a sugar found in milk and other dairy products.
  • Fructose. Fructose is a sugar found naturally in fruits and honey. It’s sometimes added as a sweetener to certain beverages.
  • Artificial sweeteners. Sorbitol and mannitol artificial sweeteners found in chewing gum and other sugar-free products can cause diarrhea in some otherwise healthy people.
  • Surgery. Abdominal or gallbladder removal surgeries can sometimes cause diarrhea.
  • Other digestive disorders. Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, microscopic colitis and irritable bowel syndrome.

However, in order for us to provide you with an accurate choice of treatment and management, we need additional details to explore further into your current complaints. Therefore, we greatly suggest that you refer this to your nearest medical doctor. You may also click on this link (DoctorOnCall) to speak with our doctors online. We assure you that our conversations are kept in confidentiality unless additional consultation needed with other medical parties. Thank you
