Vision is an important aspect of life and eye disorder. Eye disorders which affects the vision will definitely affect the quality of life of a person even though it rarely lead to death. Common presenting problems for eye disorders are watery or dry eye, pruritus, eye pain, headache, photophobia, blurred vision, loss of vision, distortion of vision, eyelid retraction, and abnormal protrusion of the eyeball. Some of the investigations may help in reaching the diagnosis. They are Amsler grid, perimetry, optical coherence tomography, and fundus angiography. There are many eye disorders. The important ones are ocular inflammation such as uveitis, scleritis & Sjogren syndrome. Other eye disorders are eye infections such as conjunctivitis and endophthalmitis, cataract, diabetic eye disease also commonly known as diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions such as retinal vein occlusion and retinal artery occlusion, and age-related macular degeneration. The treatment and management varied according to the diseases. However, it is important to identify symptoms of ocular emergencies which are sudden red eye, acute orbital disease, acute visual loss, and ocular injuries.
