The kidneys eventually fail and stop removing the waste products and extra water in your body, increasing your blood pressure further. This accumulation of extra water in your body also causes oedema (swelling), mainly in the ankles and legs, less so in the face or hands.
When your kidney function deteriorates further, you may develop symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, feeling tired, decreased or increased need to urinate, dry skin, darkened skin and weight loss.
