Using both anti-fungal cream and aldara 5% cream?

I recently got off a helpful call with Dr Sri Viknarajan, and he prescribed me aldara 5% cream to remove one of my genital wart. Currently I’m being treated for yeast infection and using one an anti-fungal cream. I am curious if I should wait and finish the course of anti-fungal cream over 2-weeks before using the aldara 5% cream or I am able to use both at the same time. Also, this has caused me anxiety for over a month as this diagnosis would mean that I’ve had HPV for almost 3 years and most sources have said that normally it would have cleared within 2 years. Does this mean I would have HPV forever?

Hello!
Thank you for your question.

Regarding your medications, it is best to speak to your doctor because we do not have enough information regarding your treatment to give you accurate advice. Generally speaking, you should finish a course of medication before starting a different medication to ensure the effectiveness of a medicine, but this can vary according to treatment.

For your information, there is no cure for HPV itself. However, treatment for symptomatic HPV infection such as genital warts are available. Genital warts may resolve on their own but at times, medication is required for complete resolution.

We hope this answer has been helpful. If you have further questions, you can get an online consultation with one of our doctors. Thank you.
