We truly understand your concerns regarding nosebleed. For your information, your condition may have multifactorial causes, such as:

  • blowing your nose too hard
  • infection of the nose lining, sinuses or adenoids.
  • bumps or falls.
  • nose picking.
  • an object that has been pushed up the nostril.
  • bleeding or clotting problem.

Nosebleeds should be taken seriously as excessive bleeding can lead to serious complications. This bloody nose problem is easily managed with treatment from home if not serious or prolonged.

  • Squeezing the nose

Squeeze your nose for 5 to 10 minutes. This method is done without lifting the head up for fear of blood may flow into the mouth or throat.

  • Ice

You can also put ice on your nose. This method will help cool the nostrils thus narrowing the blood vessels in the nose and stopping the bleeding.

  • ‘Nasal Packing’

This method can be tried if other methods cannot stop the bleeding. You need to wet a piece of cloth with ‘epinephrine’ medicine and insert the cloth into your nose. This medicine will help narrow the blood vessels in the nose thus helping to stop the bleeding.

  • ‘Cauterization’

This method involves the doctor using a device on the affected blood vessel to stop the bleeding immediately.

You can easily get ear, nose & throat problems, but don’t let it get to you.

In order for us to provide you with an accurate choice of treatment and management, we need additional details to explore further into your current complaints. Therefore, we greatly suggest that you refer this to your nearest medical doctor for full examination. You may also click on this link (DoctorOnCall) to speak with our doctors online.
