Hello, thank you for your enquiry.
For your information, night sweat is not an exclusive feature, sign and symptom for TB infection, in fact many other diseases that can rise the body temperature; or environmental factors such as room temperature will cause night sweat. About 55 to 65% of TB patients may experience night sweats.
The common signs and symptoms of tuberculosis (TB) are:
- Intermittent fever (on and off)
- Chronic cough (more than 3 weeks)
- Greenish, foul smelling sputum, with out without blood tinged
- Unintentional loss of weight
- Loss of appetite
- Lymph nodes enlargement (neck and armpit)
- Coughing of blood (hemoptysis)
- Chest pain, shortness of breath
- Fatigue and lethargy
- Night sweating
However, to diagnose tuberculosis, the relevant history and investigations findings are equally important. Therefore, if you have any of the signs and symptoms suggestive of tuberculosis, do refer to a doctor as soon as possible.
Tuberculosis is a highly contagious disease, require specific anti-TB treatment and good patient’s compliance. Do not try to take any antibiotic or medications on your own to treat tuberculosis, because drug resistance may happen, causing the TB-treatment to be more hideous.
